About this tool

How the Rank Predictor works

How your rank is estimated

Your Paper 1 + Paper 2 marks are mapped to an All-India CRL using 2025 actual marks-vs-rank data cross-checked against 2026 projections.

CRL + your category rank

You get both the All-India (CRL) rank and your reserved-category rank. For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS, the category rank is what actually drives counselling — so that's what we predict colleges with.

A range, not a single number

Real ranks shift with shift-wise normalisation, paper difficulty and the candidate pool, so we show a realistic low–high band around the estimate rather than one exact figure.

Colleges matched to that rank

The IIT options shown use your category rank against JoSAA closing ranks. Tap 'See all IIT options' for the full branch-wise predictor.

Estimates use 2025 actuals + 2026 projections — expect ±5–10% variance. Not an official prediction; verify on jeeadv.ac.in.

Tool 2

IIT College & Branch Predictor

See which IIT branches you can secure across all 6 JoSAA rounds. IITs do not participate in CSAB.

Please wait 1–2 minutes while colleges load. If your browser shows a "Page Unresponsive" pop-up, click "Wait" — do not click "Exit Page".

Find your perfect institute

Enter your rank above to see every IIT you can get, with branch-change, dual-degree and minor-program flexibility — filter it all from the sidebar.

Paper Analysis · 2021–2026

Paper-wise Difficulty & the IIT Behind Each Year

Select a year to see which IIT set the paper and compare Physics, Chemistry & Maths difficulty across both papers. Qualitative labels from official post-exam analysis. Index: 0 = easiest · 100 = hardest.

Paper 1
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Moderate → Difficult

Generally rated Moderate to Difficult. It usually features a balanced mix of conceptual problems, with a higher tendency for non-negative numerical / integer-type questions where there is no negative marking.

What to expect
  • Balanced mix of conceptual & application problems
  • More non-negative numerical / integer-type questions
  • Reward for accuracy — attempt every numerical (no negative marking on those)
  • A good Paper 1 score builds the cushion before the tougher Paper 2
Paper 2
2:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Consistently Difficult

Consistently rated Difficult. It heavily features multi-correct MCQs, paragraph-type questions and significantly lengthier calculations — designed to test stamina and time management in the second half of a long exam day.

What to expect
  • Heavy on multi-correct MCQs — partial & negative marking traps
  • Paragraph / comprehension-linked question sets
  • Significantly lengthier, calculation-heavy problems
  • A true test of stamina & time management — pace yourself

Key Trends — JEE Advanced 2026

A clear relief from 2025 — IIT Roorkee set a more balanced paper. Paper 1 was Easy to Moderate with straightforward, concept-first questions, while Paper 2 was Moderate to Hard but leaned more towards the moderate side. Overall easier than 2025, yet a notch tougher than the relatively easy 2024 paper — reflected in the CRL qualifying cutoff rising to 92 marks (between 2025's 74 and 2024's 109). Chemistry stayed the most scoring subject and Mathematics remained the toughest, though noticeably more approachable than 2025.
